Mascaras- Loves and Leaves

If you couldn't tell from the title, today's post is going to be all about mascaras! I have four loves and one leave to share with you today, so let's get started!

First off we have Benefit's 'They're Real' mascara- probably one of the most hyped up mascaras in the beauty world! I purchased this mascara about a year ago and have been using random samples that I got of it recently and I'm so in love with it. It gives me lovely volume and length without looking clumpy, which is the main thing I want from a mascara! The only thing that bugs me about this is that it's so difficult to remove but I find that the Camomile Cleansing Oil from The Body Shop does a pretty good job, and Benefit have just come out with a They're Real remover so I'm tempted to try that out!

Second up we have a drugstore mascara that is also a favourite amongst beauty bloggers! The Rocket mascara by Maybelline is a love and a leave for me... I love the waterproof version but hate the normal one! I find that while the initial result is similar for both, the non-waterproof formula just doesn't hold a curl at all and smudges on me during the day. The waterproof formula however is perfect for minimal makeup days in the summer because it gives very natural looking length and definition- nothing dramatic here- and it stays on all day until you (quite forcefully) remove it in the evening.

The Clinique Bottom Lash mascara is quite a controversial product- when I first saw Tanya Burr using it I thought that it was absolutely ridiculous and I didn't need it but then I caved and purchased it and I love it! The small wand makes it so easy to get all those fine bottom lashes without stabbing yourself in the eye or smudging mascara all over your carefully applied makeup, and it's really long wearing! Mine has unfortunately dried out now but I will definitely be repurchasing this soon!

Last but not least we have the mascara that wins the prize for the most funky-looking wand- the L'Oreal False Lash Butterfly mascara. This is meant to give your lashes a very winged out look and while I wasn't sure about the wand at first, it definitely works! The shape of the wand works perfectly to really grip those lashes in the outer corner and accentuate them, winging out your eyes. This is probably my second favourite mascara at the moment because it gives me really dramatic, long lashes and it's actually quite easy to remove, while not smudging during the day. The only reason I prefer the They're Real over this is because the False Lash Butterfly doesn't hold the curl of my lashes quite as well- but maybe the waterproof version would be better at that? I may have to investigate...

What is your favourite mascara?
