The Apartment Diaries- When it all went wrong

You may have been wondering why I haven't been posting much recently (or you may not care but I'll tell you why anyway)... Basically, it has been raining in my flat. Yep, you read that right. It has been raining inside my flat.
Let's start from the beginning: about two weeks ago, I came home to find that there was scaffolding on my building. I asked what it was all about and was told that they would be redoing the roof, because there had been some leaks in the hallways because the roof was really old and broken. I didn't think anything of it, but later that day after the builders had left the fire brigade pulled up- always promising! It turned out that the people living in the top flat had water coming in through the ceiling, because the builders had taken off the roof and then covered it with a non-waterproof sheet. They were called and said they'd fix it and everybody left.
At around 11pm I was sitting on my sofa when suddenly water dripped through my chandellier. Again, not a good sign! I panicked a little because it kept getting worse to the point where there was just a stream of water coming through. I called everyone, from the emergency number for the landlord to the fire brigade and no one could help! By this point I was in tears and didn't know what to do, so eventually I just went to bed in the hope that the ceiling wouldn't collapse during the night. I was then woken up by the fire alarm at 5am because the water had come through the ceiling in my bedroom and set it off. It's safe to say that I was not happy at this point!
The next day the builders came and started fixing things, but the people in the two flats above me have had to move out because they're flats are completely ruined. Luckily I didn't have any actual damage apart from a very wet ceiling, so I could stay. There were still occasional leaks but nothing as bad. Then last Tuesday, my landlord decided that it wasn't safe for me to stay at the flat in case the ceiling came down, so I had to pack my bags in half an hour and they moved me to a small bedsit in Hove.
Now when I say small, I mean small. It is literally a small room with a tiny little kitchen corner and a bathroom that used to be a cupboard. The only furniture in there is a single bed and there is no internet. Safe to say I wasn't very happy, but thankfully I managed to get a few days off work and on Saturday morning I flew home to Germany for a few days.
I've had a few days here now with actual food (I didn't have any way of cooking at the temp flat so I had to live off of takeaway), wifi, and most importantly coffee that isn't made with hot water from the tap due to lack of a kettle... Today I got the call that I can move back in tomorrow when I get back, so hopefully my normal schedule will resume soon!
